Ninilchik Winter King Salmon & Tanner Crab

During the Alaskan winter many people believe the saltwater fishing season is over, but there are still opportunities to get out and harvest fresh King Salmon and Tanner Crab. Our winter charters run out of the Homer Harbor, and we troll and set pots in the Kachemak Bay. With tourist season coming to an end, you can expect a less crowded environment while visiting Homer. Our trips start at the beginning of October and run through the end of November. We may be able to make arrangements in other months too, just give us a call. On October 1st, Tanner Crab opens to harvest during our trips. Don’t worry if you are a nonresident, both resident and nonresidents alike can harvest Tanner Crab as well as King Salmon. Being a winter charter, the temperature is more fridged so please plan accordingly. Although there is a heater on board, we recommend dressing in layers with full winter gear. I addition to all your cold weather gear, guests will also need a valid, printed Alaska fishing license with a King Salmon stamp along with a Tanner Crab Permit. All of which can be found on the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website. Don’t forget to pack water and a lunch!
